Grapefruit Sage Old Fashioned


Grapefruit Sage Old Fashioned
makes 1 drink

2 oz bourbon
2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
1 bar spoon or tsp of sage syrup (recipe below)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Splash of club soda
grapefruit peel, for garnish
sage leaf, for garnish (optional) 

Combine the bourbon, grapefruit juice, sage syrup, bitters, and club soda into a rocks glass and stir. Add a large ice cube and garnish with a grapefruit peel.


Sage Syrup

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
8 sage leaves

Place the sugar and water into a small pot over medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Next, add the sage leaves and cook on low for 5 minutes. Allow it to cool completely before straining into a clean glass bottle with an airtight lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
