According to legend, the Dark ’n’ Stormy was invented more than 100 years ago when members of Bermuda's Royal Naval Officer's Club added a splash of the local rum to their spicy homemade ginger beer. They described its ominous hue as "the color of a cloud only a fool or dead man would sail under."
Technically (or rather, legally in the US due to trademark) a Dark ’n’ Stormy can only be made with Gosling’s Black Seal rum, however, any dark rum will do (we used Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum). For the ginger beer, we used Fever-Tree Premium Ginger Beer, which has a very nice sharp bite. Lime juice adds a little tartness and balances out the sweet and spicy flavors to create one heckuva refreshing drink.
